PHECC First Aid Responder (FAR)
The Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) First Aid Responder (FAR) course is the current education and training standard for occupational first aid (OFA) training in Ireland. This is the only first aid training course that is recognised by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) since June 1, 2018.
This is the programme your employee needs to take and complete for him to become a qualified first aid responder in your workplace.
This foundation first aid training programme replaces the QQI Occupational First Aid course. Anyone with an Occupational First Aid Certificate should attend a FAR refresher course once their certification expires.
The PHECC FAR training programme is meant to equip participants with the know-how needed to provide first aid to someone who is injured or who becomes suddenly ill while in the workplace.
Only a PHECC recognised training centre like iSafe can offer the FAR course. In compliance with the PHECC and HSA’s requirement, our course is taught by a certified FAR instructor. The entire course takes 18 teaching contact hours, the minimum time required by the PHECC.
