General Overview
It is absolutely essential that anyone who works where food is made, sold or served has a good understanding of food hygiene and knows how to handle consumables properly. This Food Safety and Hygiene Level 1 course covers all the basics necessary.

- Learn about and show commitment to Food Safety Legislation
- Understand cleanliness and how to avoid cross contamination when working with food
- Learn about food poisoning and and how the food can become contaminated
Course Outline
Section 1. Introduction to Food Safety
- In this first section, we provide an introduction to food safety. This will include hazards and contamination, allergic reactions, good and poor safety standards, microorganism, bacteria and your responsibilities as a food handler including what you are legally required to do to keep food safe at all times.
Section 2. Personal Hygiene
- Having high standards of personal hygiene at all times is crucial for all food handlers. In the second section of this course we will cover personal hygiene looking at; handwashing, PPE, gloves, jewellery and cosmetics, and first aid, infection & illness at work.
Section 3. Cleaning
- As a food handler, one of the best mottos you can live by is ‘clean as you go’. We will look at; cleaning and disinfecting a surface and equipment, dos and don’ts, cleaning cloths, cleaning schedules, food pests and bins.
Section 4. Storage, Temperature & Time
- There are a few different things to consider when it comes to food temperatures, deliveries, storage, preservation, packaging and labelling which we’ll take a look at in this section.
