Basic First Aid Course
Every workplace in Ireland needs to have a first aider. This is in compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005.
iSafe offers several types of First Aid training courses, including Basic First Aid training. Our programmes meet the requirements set by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA).
The Basic First Aid training course runs for 1 days. It is designed to equip participants with knowledge and practical skills needed to provide basic first aid treatment. It aims to teach them life-saving skills which can be useful when medical emergencies arise.
After completing this course, the participants will have the competence and confidence needed to deal with injuries and illnesses.
Basic First Aid Course
This course is open to anyone who wish to learn first aid techniques and to be qualified to administer first aid.
At the end of the course, the participants should:
- Know what first aid means and what its basic principles are
- Understand the responsibilities of an occupational first aider
- Be able to assess the situation (scene and patient/casualty) properly, safely and quickly
- Be able to provide immediate treatment in cases involving bleeding, burns and fractures, amongst others
- Be able to give the needed assistance before emergency services arrive
- Know how to arrange for medical help
We accept up to 12 participants per class.
This course takes 1 day to complete
All participants need to take a written and a practical test at the end of the course.
After successfully completing the Basic First Aid training course and passing the assessments, the participants are going to receive an iSafe Certificate. This certification is valid for 2 years.
